The National Association for Shoplifting Prevention (NASP) is a nonprofit organization which specializes in working with children, teens and families who are dealing with a shoplifting issue.
Since 1989, NASP's unparalleled shoplifter research and ongoing collaboration with community stakeholders has been the basis for all its organizational activities and the foundation for its education programs and services.
NASP’s core programs, the Youth Educational Shoplifting Program (Y.E.S. Program) and the Shoplifters Alternative Course (SA Course), were created from years of extensive research surrounding the thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, perceptions, motivations and behaviors of more than 250,000 adults and juveniles who have been caught shoplifting. These programs have been approved by thousands of criminal and juvenile justice professionals and utilized in more than 2,000 jurisdictions, nationwide.
NASP’s Mission
To raise public awareness about the harmful effects of shoplifting on youth, families and communities, unite public opinion toward constructive solutions, deliver needed programs and services and engage community action in prevention efforts to improve the lives of those affected and reduce the number of people who become involved.
NASP is a private nonprofit tax-exempt [501(c)(3)] organization.
