Website Privacy & Confidentiality Policy Statement

Thank you for visiting a National Association for Shoplifting Prevention (NASP) website and reviewing our Privacy & Confidentiality Policy Statement ("Policy Statement"). We have created this Policy Statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to online privacy and to protect one of our greatest assets: your trust.

It protects all visitors to any NASP website on the World Wide Web including but not limited to www.saynotoshoplifting.org, www.shopliftingprevention.org; www.takeatheftclass.org; www.shopliftingtheftclass.org; www.naspsecureregistration.org; www.yesprogramonline.org; www.shoplifting-class.org; www.sacourseonline.org as well as participants in any NASP program hosted at www.naspcampus.com; www.apisenterprise.com or www.educatepress.net (collectively the "Site(s)")

You do not have to provide any personal information to visit our websites; however, to access certain programs and services, minimal personal information will be needed.

The following Policy Statement will help you understand how NASP collects, uses, and safeguards the personally identifying information you give us when you use our websites.

We define "personally identifying information" as information — such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address — that can help to locate or identify individuals. "Personally identifying information" also includes credit card information. Protecting the privacy of personally identifying information is important to us.

Visitors to the Site(s) are subject to important limitations. Please review our complete Conditions of Use, which govern your visit to the Site(s).

Information We Collect

When you browse this website, you browse anonymously, unless you submit a form, respond to an e-mail solicitation from NASP, submit a question or comment through "Contact NASP," or send us an e-mail. We do not collect or store any personal information — such as your name, address, phone number, or e-mail address — unless you knowingly and willingly provide it.

To help us serve your needs, we may collect non-personally identifying information automatically. Non-personally identifying information might include your IP address, the type of browser or operating system you use, or the domain name from which you linked to our site. We use this non-personally identifying information to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer the Site(s); and we may share it with our affiliates or with our business partners on an aggregated basis.

If you choose to provide us with personal information, such as by sending a message to an e-mail address on the Site(s) or by filling out a form and submitting it through the Site(s), we will use that information to respond to your message or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication including but not limited to registration, administration and completion of a NASP program and/or other product or service, to conduct surveys or contact you for other reasons related to offering and improving our programs and services. We reserve the right to contact you about offerings that may be of interest to you or in the unlikely event that we need to verify your information in order to fulfill your request.

We do not permit other persons, companies or entities to collect personal information through the Site(s). We do not sell, rent or lend any personal or identifiable information from any of our visitors. All employees and contract service providers of NASP are bound by a Confidentiality Agreement. When a web form asks visitors to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number or address), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the webpage.

Confidentiality for NASP Educational Program Participants

The NASP Site(s) and the National Self-Help & Support Center provide a place for people seeking confidential and safe help with a personal shoplifting issue, as are all the NASP programs found on any of the NASP Site(s). Therefore, NASP is committed to keeping all personal information secure. Participation in any of the NASP self-help programs and support services, including but not limited to the Shoplifters Alternative Course (SA Course) and the Youth Educational Shoplifting Program (Y.E.S. Program), is held STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL. Any programs you request be sent to your address will not be identified as coming from the National Association for Shoplifting Prevention, but rather from the non-descript word "NASP". No information will be released about your participation in any NASP program without your permission, except to the referring organization or the court or other jurisdiction that ordered you to complete a NASP program. NASP is committed to protecting your identity and information. If you have any questions about our Confidentiality or other NASP practices, please call us toll-free at 800-848-9595.

Access

Upon request, we will give you access to the personal information that you submit through the Site(s). We permit you to review the personal information you submit to us, and to correct inaccurate information. You may make a request by calling 631-923-2737. You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time and we will abide by that request - unless NASP is ordered by a court or law enforcement agency to continue contact with you.

Cookies

We may use "cookies" on the Site(s). A cookie is a piece of data stored on a visitor's hard drive to help improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to the Site(s). For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on the Site(s). Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifying information on the Site(s). Our Web server may write a "cookie," a small computer file, to your hard drive. We may use cookies to enhance your online experience, to facilitate your use of the Site(s), to recognize you as a repeat visitor, and to collect statistics about your visit to the Site(s). The cookies used by the Site(s) do not contain personally identifying information, such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, or credit card information.

Most web browsers allow you to exercise control over cookie files on your computer by erasing them, blocking them, or notifying you when you receive such files. Please refer to your own browser's instructions for information on those functions. If you do elect to disable the cookies from the Site(s), please note that it may not be possible to utilize certain programs or services on the Site(s). You can order any program, product or service by telephone by calling NASP at 800-848-9595 or 631-923-2737.

Security

The security of customer information is very important to us, and while there is no such thing as "perfect" security on the internet, we take all reasonable steps to safeguard your personally identifying information. After receiving your personally identifying information, we maintain reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect it from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, loss, or destruction. Whenever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser or looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the webpage. Because e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception, do not send credit card information via e-mail. Use the secure forms on our website or call NASP at 800-848-9595. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. All employees and contractors that provide services related to our information systems are obliged by law to respect the confidentiality of any personally identifying information.

Linked Internet Sites

The Site(s) may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave the Site(s) and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
